What's Art, What isn't

The question what is art, and what is not art is a difficult question to be faced with. The reason it is difficult is because it is very easy to decide what is art, but deciding what isn't is what's difficult.

In my opinion everything we consider art is art. Painting, clay, sculpting,drawing, pastels,and basically anything you create with your own hands.For example if you are outside and build a snowman,that is an example of art. 

What isn't art is where i was stumped as to what to put. From what I can come up with is that if you copy someone's idea, then it is not artwork. Art is supposed to be original to everyone,and copying someones idea is not original. Another thing that is not art is when you trace over an original picture.

 To me what is in between art and not, is photography. Since photography is not something you make with your own hands it can not be classified as art. It can be classified as art somewhat because it takes time and the photographers original eye, or point of view to take just the right photo.

 

Finally

After over a week of trying to come up with an idea for my series and I think I finally have. I have always been interested in working with clay but wanted to make something different. Yesterday while I was at the library in nipigon I found a wood working magazine, and immediately thought of clay. Since clay can be worked into the same shape as the wood they work with. I could use the techniques they use in the magazine to
Shape my clay.

The things I'm goin to make our  items  Like a bread board with carvings and engraving in it representing my family. I could also make a candy dish or another flat tile. I have not completely decided everything I'm goin to make but I do want to make something like   a bread board.

Out door idea.

Last semester I had looked up Simon becks art and immediately thought it was super cool. I've always been interested in different kind of art works instead of the usual painting, or drawings.

I've been having trouble lately coming up with ideas for what I'm going to do for my outdoor project. I was thinking of doing one of the van halen logos since it is artistic and mean something to me.

Series project

On the second day of art class Mrs rose told us that we had to make a series of art works that connect, 3 peices or more.  I have no idea what I'm goin to do but for the past few days I played with clay trying to come up with different ideas on what to make.

Some ideas I have are either making a few planets and the sun connecting Them using metal. Or i could make tiles like from last year..

Start of Grade 12 Art

Yesterday Mrs Rose came to us with our first project. We have to make a 3 artwork series that connects. As of right  now I have no idea what I'm going to do for my series. I was thinking of using clay as my material but I have no idea yet what I'm going to make.
