Jake, I'm wondering if you'd be able to experiment with Google Sketchup... It's a really wonderful way of using perspective to construct buildings and scenes. Take a look here: http://www.sketchup.com It might be a nice alternative, especially since you've worked so hard to get your mind around the technique. If you manage to play around with it, let me know, ok?
